Feeling Groovy

Posted in High Fashion,Poses,Skins,SL Mesh by Piper Hanriot on July 1, 2017

We are now officially in July 2017.  Happy Canada Day to all my friends and followers who read my blog.  I believe it is the 150th anniversary, so congratulations.

With the summer in full swing I have more exciting beachwear to show you, plus some fun poses from a pose set that I bought a while ago, but have not yet had the time to blog.

I was looking through the SL marketplace this morning when I noticed that Beautiful Dirty Rich have recently released some fabulous new beachwear.  They have released two different sets, Tropica and Bohemia.  I love bright colours, so I bought the Tropica bikini set.  Each set comes with a hud, so that you can change the fabric and pattern for both the bikini top and the bottom.  These bikini sets are compatible with Maitreya, Belleza, Slink and Hourglass mesh bodies.  For more details please refer to the item on the SL marketplace here.

Whilst modelling my fabulous new bikini set, I am also delighted to show off another new skin from the awesome designer Shantia Soulstar of Amara Beauty.  As well as being an awesome skin designer, Shantia’s skins still remain my firm favourite and most worn in SL.

Kouralee skin for Catwa Koura head at Amara Beauty

Some of you may be aware from one of my previous blogs that Shantia sometimes works with Catwa Clip from Catwa who has designed some amazing mesh heads.  Catwa have recently released their new Koura mesh head, so to complement this mesh head, Amara Beauty have created a Catwa skin applier called the Kouralee.

The beautiful Kouralee skin comes is available in 12 different gorgeous skin colours and there is a hud with each skintone, so that you can match your eye brow colour to your hair colour.  I do not have the Koura mesh head yet, so my photos show this lovely new skin on the Catwa Tumble mesh head.  Amara Beauty also have a new main store in SL, link here, so hop in a taxi and go visit.

Framed pose set at Adorkable Poses

And finally as I mentioned above, I found a fun pose set in my inventory, which I had bought a while ago, but then forgotten about.  This pose set is by Adorkable Poses and is called framed.  There are 5 different frames in the box that you can pose with.  I chose 3 out of the 5 to show you.

Well that is all for today’s blog.  Full details of my styling can be found on my Flickr page here.  Enjoy the weekend and I will have more fun, groovy and beautiful trinkets to share with you all again soon.  Until next time …

Bento Bento

Posted in Poses,SL Mesh by Piper Hanriot on April 8, 2017

Readers and followers, welcome to my Bento blog.  Finally! I hear you say.  This week I read a blog posted by a lady whom I follow, the fabulous Strawberry Singh, where she featured the new bento update from Maitreya.  Hooray! I cried out.  I then logged into SL and Onyx LeShelle from Maitreya had sent me the updated version for my Maitreya Lara mesh body.

BENTO_004

I was so excited to try out the updated mesh body with the bento hands, however I then realised that I had not yet updated my viewer to enable me to see this exciting new technology.  So I logged out of SL and then proceeded with a clean reinstall to update my viewer to the newest version.  I then logged back into SL and attached my bento hands.  The hud for the Maitreya Lara mesh body has been updated with two extra nail choices, as well as hand poses and gestures.  The classic hands are also in the box if you do not wish to use the bento hands.  Now to try them out with some hand poses.

More hand poses from Pink Hustler

In her blog, Strawberry recommended four different animation designers for hand poses.  I decided to pick one from her list and try them out, so I chose Pink Hustler.  It is recommended that you try the demos first, which are available in the store, but not only for these poses, but for any bento hand poses, as some do require you to change your shape so that you can achieve and see the desired effect.  It is all trial and error and I admit that I had lots of fun trying these out.

I also mixed things up a little by using a couple of the pose stances from Pink Hustler and then  chose a gesture from my Maitreya hud to show you as well, so ‘rock n roll’ folks, I love my new bento hands.

BENTO_007

That pretty much wraps things up for this blog, however as more animation designers release new poses for bento hands, I will bring you more in the future.  It is going to be a busy weekend for me, so ‘More coffee?  Yes please’.

Wishing you all a good weekend.  Until next time …

All Sorts

Like a bag of liquorice All Sorts, today’s blog is very much a mixed bag of delights.  I decided to try some new looks and also some different lighting and effects for my photos, which is my way of being creative in SL.

0. Band 7

The Good

So let’s start with the ‘good’.  I have not done much in the way of fantasy and so today I decided to unleash my inner fairy.  The main costume is by Liza’s with wings by The White Armory and I used my photo studio to take the pictures.

0. Band 5

The Not so Good

I decided to take a few sultry photos whilst lounging around at home as well.  That’s the beauty of not having neighbours overlooking your property, as it means you can lounge around at home in whatever you choose.

0. Band 3

And the Pirate

For my final look, I chose swashbuckling action, this time as a pirate.  I was looking through the costumes in my inventory earlier and found two old pirate costumes I must have purchased when I joined SL over six years ago.  One of them was definitely a freebie and made me laugh, so I decided to update my pirate attire with this outfit by Alchemy and fabulous mesh boots by TLG, completed with a sword by The White Armory.

I have made a series of today’s photos, so if you would like to see the rest, then you will find them on my Flickr page here https://www.flickr.com/photos/47089508@N08/

Enjoy the rest of your week and until next time …

London 2012 Olympics

Posted in Poses,Sport by Piper Hanriot on August 5, 2012

The London 2012 Olympics is in full swing and everyone seems to be enjoying it.  One of my favourite sports that I like to follow is the gymnastics.  Many moons ago now when I was a mere 8 years old I took up gymnastics as an after school activity for a few years and up until a few years ago, I could still cart-wheel, although not perfectly.

Having searched the SL marketplace for a few Olympic trinkets, I found a fantastic balance beam prop with poses by Embody, which for me is very exciting, so I thought I’d bring a small piece of the Olympics to SL with some photos from this pose set.

Balance beam – Pose 3

Balance beam – Pose 4

There are 6 poses in total in this set.  I have chosen 3 of my favourites to show you.  I wish I had been this good on the balance beam in RL.

As well as the balance beam, Embody also have another set of 5 gymnast poses.  I decided to show a few of these, incorporating them into a floor routine.

My chosen apparel for this photo shoot is a leotard by the fabulous designers at Spankies, only available on the SL Marketplace.  They have a glorious array of leotard for a whole host of countries around the globe.  My wonderful Spankies team GB leotard came complete with a London 2012 gold medal, a proud achievement if only in my virtual world.

Strike A Pose

Posted in Poses by Piper Hanriot on February 7, 2011

After all the hub hub and blogs about fashion shows, this week I’m going to bring you something a bit different.

Back in November I was having a look at photo studios, poses and props to use for photo shoots.  You may remember my blog about Edge Imagery.  It was the day I had my photo shoot with Pheobe that I discovered what a fabulous piece of equipment in her studio.  However, when I looked it up in search there were two landmarks.  One which took me direct to the shop where she purchased her photo studio and the other, which took me to a sim where there were lots of photo booths.  The place in question is the Free Photography Studio and Mall at MC.  Some for just men, some for women and some for couples.  There is also a props area, which contains props created by some fabulous designers in SL.

I wondered around for a while having a look around and then decided to have some fun.  I visited each of the women’s booths and had a look at them.  Some of them had a photo prop and some just had buttons for different lighting and backgrounds.  Below I have chosen a few pictures from a few of the booths and the pose area.

Booth 1: I’m not really sleeping on the job lol

Booth 1: Circle of life

Prop Area: Caged

Prop Area: Glitter Cube!

Prop Area: After a hard day of shopping

Booth 2: A good pose for modelling boots or shoes

Booth 3: Action girl pose

I have to admit that I thoroughly enjoyed my few hours looking around, taking pictures and trying out some of the different props and poses in both the booths and props area.  It was certainly refreshing and I will definitely be investing in a few of the props myself to make some of my future fashion shots a bit more interesting.  But don’t take my word for it, go and check Free Photography Studio and Mall at MC for yourself and I hope you have as much fun as I did.
